The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (“IDPS”) took place on December 3. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1992 with the aim of promoting an understanding of disability issues and mobilizing support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. The day aims to promote the importance of inclusion in life and the workplace of persons with both visible and invisible disabilities. Owen Bird is pleased to announce that Harleen Randhawa has joined our firm as the newest member of our Litigation Group. Harleen obtained her J.D. and M.B.A. at the University of Victoria, and her B.Com (Hons.) from the University of British Columbia.

Prior to joining Owen Bird, Harleen developed a diverse litigation and dispute resolution practice at one of Canada’s business law firms in Vancouver. Before graduating from Peter A. Allard School of Law, Jean obtained her Bachelor of Laws from East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, followed by a Master in Laws from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, winning many academic awards.

In celebration of National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day, a team of our lawyers and staff set out last Friday to learn more about the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. We took a cultural canoe tour of Burrard Inlet put on by Takaya Tours.
